Cyber Safe Girl!

This is quite an accomplishment - the 4 Ministers for the Status of Women from the Maritime Provinces, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, Labrador, worked together to develop a web site, and as part of the web site, a section on the hypersexualization of girls.  This presentation was on the draft proposed content - to be released May 2014. 

There were approximately 25 NGO representatives, including youth, mainly from the YWCA. Content included what everyone needs to know; 10 tips for families, and 10 tips for girls.

There was definitely support for this initiative, with several constructive recommendations, including using social media to get the word out, plus access to resources and support. 

The story here too is how the ministers got together, and with no new resources, put this together - different political parties, but focused on providing something necessary and useful for youth and their families.
